New Paragraph
All we can ever say is thank-you and that will never be enough to express our gratitude for each of the high quality individuals who call themselves "Catechist" here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Signing on for such an endeavor can be a little intimidating, filled with question such as, "do I have the right information?", "am I qualified?", or "do I have the time?". I can assure you, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the only answer to these questions is YES!
In addition, our catechists are supported by CORE team members who create easy to follow lesson plans for each week. The Faith Formation staff, the Priests and Deacons are also ready to answer any of your questions.
We are always looking for individuals who love their faith and are willing to share it with the youngest members of our Parish community. If you are considering the call to serve in this capacity, please contact the RE office and we will set you up with a mentor you can shadow.
Thank you again for all you do for OLMC!

The Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University is a new way to get quality formation and is offered to you free, by generous donors of the Diocese. Beginning in Fall of 2024, all catechists will have to complete one course as part of their continuing education. Contact Sherry if you are interested in signing up early.

We are still looking to fill several support spots for RE ithis year, including seasonal, retreat helpers. You do not need to have a theology degree to help our students. You simply need a desire to share your faith, and a deep love for Jesus. Contact the RE office for more information.
The Diocese requires every catechist to fulfill 6 hours of formation a year. For 2024 and beyond, each Catechist will also have to take a specific course from the Catechetical Institute of St. Francis. (See link) This course will count as 3 hours. To complete your training, we offer several opportunities through Adult Faith Formation here at OLMC. You may choose one of those options, or learn from our FORMED subscription. You will need an account, but signing up is a breeze!
